Achieve speed by running Windows XP from your Ram

After the launch of windows in 1983 the world has changed a lot from the boring MS-DOS to current GUI based Operating Systems. Despite of all the advancement in Operating Systems Windows XP still is one of the most promising OS available today. It is one of the most used NT-based operating systems. From its first launch pm Oct 25, 2001 till today Win XP has improved a lot in the aspects of program compatibility, security holes, FireWire Support, etc. Though its System Requirements consist of only 300 megahertz Processor, 128 MB RAM & 1.5 GB Hard Disk space But still its doesn’t seems to be enough for the OS to run smoothly. Even if you have high an High-End system. There are many ways to speed up your computer. But best of all would be running your OS on a RAM. By doing this windows will be forced to load drivers & Kernel on memory giving you a noticeable faster computer.

The Steps are as follows:

  1. Open up the Registry Editor by typing in “Regedit” in the Run command Window.
  2. Browse to the “HKEY LOCAL MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Session Manager\Memory Management.”
  3. Double click on Disable Paging Executive attribute
  4. In the value box place Decimal 1
  5. Double Click on the attribute Large System Cache
  6. Again in the value box place Decimal 1
  7. Open the attribute IO Page Lock Limit & insert the following values depending upon your system configuration.
  • 512 MB & More          :           40000
  • 256 MB                       :           10000
  • 128 MB                       :             4000

Note: IO Page Lock Limit doesn’t exist in some versions of Windows XP. In case if you don’t find it, you have to skip the 5th point.
