Change Your Windows Vista Boot Screen
Bored watching at your same boot screen again and again?
It doesn’t need to be that way. You can change it with your own boot skin or replace it with some graphics you found on the Internet.
- First you’ll need to find or create a image for the boot skin. Collect or create 2 versions of the image. One of 1024 x 768 pixels & another of 800 x 600 pixels. They must be in 24-bit .bmp format. (If in case you get the image in .jpg format, use MS Paint to change it to .bmp
- Once you have collected both the images download Vista Boot logo generator from (http://www.computa.co.uk/staff/dan/?p=18)
- Click on “Browse for image” buttons & select both of your graphics.
- Select File > Save Boot Screen As & save it. Instead of using the graphics file the program will save it as winload.exe.mui.
- Then you have to copy those saved file to C:\Windows\System32\en-US. 1st browse to that directory & make a copy of the original file named as winload.exe.mui, Then copy & replace it with your created one
- After you are done with the procedure Run MSCONFIG utility
- Type MSCONFIG in the Command Prompt or at the Search Box and press Enter.
- Click on the Boot tab & select “No GUI boot,” then click on OK,
- Click Restart,
Whenever you run MSCONFIG to make a system change, it configures itself to run automatically on the next reboot. Because MSCONFIG requires administrative privileges, it can’t start automatically, and you’ll get a notification that “Windows has blocked some startup programs.”
- Click the blocked startup program icon in the notification area, choose the System Configuration Utility, and let it run. You’ll get a dialog window explaining that you’ve made changes to your startup configuration (and you can also tell MSCONFIG to stop showing this message at startup).
