Diablo III is a dungeon-roaming style hack and slash action role-playing game. “Be an awesome action game.” “If you can click a mouse, you can play Diablo.” The same impressive look continues on to the actual game-play. Characters were big and richly detailed (especially when wearing more elaborate Armour) but nicely scaled to the environments.

Game Features

Battle the unholy forces of the Burning Hells with all-new character classes such as the otherworldly Witch Doctor, or with re-imagined warriors from Diablo’s past, like the powerful Barbarian.

Experience the intensity of multiplayer Diablo III over an all-new, wickedly enhanced Battle.net platform with numerous enhancements to make connecting with your friends easier, and cooperative game play more fun.

Explore fully realized realms of Sanctuary – the living, breathing gothic fantasy world of Diablo III – rendered in gorgeous 3D.

Rain Hell on your enemies and use the interactive environment as a weapon: lay cunning traps, turn destructible objects against your foes, and use environmental obstacles to your advantage – all powered by the Havoc physics system.

Character Classes

Monk

The monk from Diablo I make a return in Diablo 3. This time he’s way more deadly with his uber deadly skills like crippling wave, exploding palm, seven-sided strike, and way of hundred fists.

Wizard

The sorceress from Diablo II is making a comeback, but in Diablo 3 she is a wizard.

Barbarian

The barbarian is a well known face from Diablo II. He came back in a more mature (old) from with more kickass skills.

Witch Doctor

The necromancer in Diablo II was replaced by the new witch doctor. From the initial concept artwork, they seem to be similar in appearance.

About Diablo III

Bashiok describes what themes some of the dungeons in Diablo 3 will be like on the Diablo 3 forums. It seems there will be a wide variety of dungeons themes in Diablo 3 that will give players a different feel every time. He also mentioned that the size of inventory can be increased through the use of bags. Sounds like Diablo 3 will borrow similar features from World of Warcraft.

According to a blue post that was posted on the battle.net forums, skill trees will not be “tabbed” like it was shown before. All Diablo 3 Skill Trees will be shown side by side. Also, Blizzard is removing the need to follow one particular branch in a skill tree. Instead, they are moving toward a unified tier progression. This means if you spent 5 points in tier 1 skills, all tier 2 skills will unlock regardless of where your 5 points were allocated.

Unlike the Talent tree in World of Warcraft, you don’t get all the basic skills with bonuses to the skills that you put your points in. In Diablo 3, all spells and skills are learned by allocating points into the tree of your choice. Your decision will either unlock new Diablo 3 Spells or improve existing Diablo 3 Skills.

In Diablo III, potions will still play a part of the action but their importance has been downplayed, thanks to a couple of changes. The first are health globes, which drop off defeated enemies and will serve to boost the health of your character, as well as those around you if you’re playing cooperatively.

The random scripted events sound like one of the coolest additions to the game. Each play-through, players will encounter scenarios that are quite different from their previous trip through the game. In one area, you might see a caravan that you’ll be prompted to escort to safety. The second time you play through, that same area might contain a house filled with undead enemies — along with a story about the home’s former residents. The next time that area might simply be filled with monsters just begging for the opportunity to be killed by you. Scripted events look to greatly increase the level of immersion into the world of Diablo III while keeping the player coming back for more at the same time.

During the BMO Capital Markets Digital Entertainment Conference in New York today, Activision Blizzard Chief Financial Officer Thomas Tippl outlined the publisher’s upcoming title and releases plans, including World of Warcraft and Starcraft II, but it seems any hope for a Diablo III release next year have been dashed.
