How to make Portable Applications

Tools Required:
ThinApp (formerly Thinstall)
- Step 1: Open ThinApp setup capture application
- Step 2: Check “Rootpathes” & “Registry Hives”
- Step 3: Click “Next”
- Step 4: Wait until the process gets over. Then click “Next”
- Step 5: Minimize the “ThinApp” & install the application that you want to make portable. (e.g. TuneUpUtilities.exe)
(Make sure you didn’t install the application before)
- Step 6: After the installation gets over, Maximize the “ThinApp” & click “Next”
- Step 7: Wait until it capture to save new Snapshot.
- Step 8: Choose your User Accessible Entry Point
- Step 9: Select your primary Data Container that you want to make portable (e.g. TuneUpUtilities.exe)
- Step 10: Click “Next”
- Step 11: Select your software name (e.g.TuneUpUtilities.exe)
- Step 12: Select your Sandbox location (e.g. USB flash/portable)
- Step 13: Click “Next”
- Step 14: Select your Directory to Save
- Step 15: Now Browse through the directory where the project is saved & delete the unnecessary files.
Note: Don’t delete the following files mentioned in the link below
(Package”Configuration Settings”)+(%ProgramFilesDir%)”ProgramFiles”
- Step 16: Close the browse Project
- Step 17: Click on “Build Now” Button
- Step 18: Wait until the process gets over
- Step 19: Close the “ThinApp” once its done
- Step 20: Browse through “Build Project” Directory
- Step 21: Open the folder named “Bin”
- Step 22: Find your Exe file (e.g. TuneUpUtilities.exe) & delete the unnecessary files
- Step 23: Run the Portable Application
- Step 24: ENJOY
